The Bauchi State Police Command has deployed personnel across key locations in preparation for the All Progressives Congress (APC) primaries scheduled for Saturday, May 16.
In a statement issued on Saturday by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Nafiu Habib, the command said both covert and overt security operatives have been stationed at designated venues and other sensitive areas across the state.
Commissioner of Police, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, said the deployment is part of enhanced security arrangements designed to ensure a peaceful, orderly and violence-free exercise.
The statement added that officers involved in the operation have been properly briefed and instructed to uphold professionalism, neutrality and strict discipline throughout the exercise.
The police warned politicians, supporters and other stakeholders against acts of violence, intimidation and political thuggery, adding that such conduct would not be tolerated.
It further reaffirmed the command’s readiness to provide adequate security before, during and after the primaries, noting that anyone found culpable of electoral offences would be prosecuted in line with the law.
Residents were also urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to security agencies through appropriate channels.
