The Senate President of the Nigerian Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio has petitioned the DSS over a fabricated graphic circulating on Facebook that attributes to him the words: “Northerners, you will be the ones to suffer the most if you allow Tinubu to lose the election.”
In a letter signed by his Chief of Staff, Chinedu Akubueze, he says he never made the remark and that no date, venue, speech, interview, recording or credible report supports it.
The petition calls the post a manufactured quotation meant to stir regional resentment and names early amplifiers Abdullai Musa, Uzoma Chilaka and Engineer Ibrahim Umar Ammar as persons of interest, not presumed guilty, whose records may lead to the designer, original uploader and sponsors.
Akpabio wants an urgent investigation into the image’s provenance and the network that spread it.
