The Supreme Court has finally given a date to deliver judgement on the appeals on gubernatorial elections in Rivers, Ogun, Nasarawa and Gombe State.

The date fixed is on Friday, January 19, 2024, for judgment on the dispute regarding the March 18, 2023, elections on the affected states.

In Rivers, the Supreme Court reserved judgment on Monday in the appeal brought by Patrick Tonye-Cole, the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), challenging the victory of Siminalayi Fubara from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the last gubernatorial election.

Also on Thursday last week, the Apex Court also reserved judgment in the legal battle over the Ogun State governorship election. Governor Dapo Abiodun of the APC faces off against his PDP challenger, Oladipupo Adebutu.

Similarly in Nasarawa, David Ombugadu, the gubernatorial candidate of PDP, filed an appeal challenging the victory of Governor Abdullahi Sule from the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Meanwhile, in Gombe, Governorship candidate Jibrin Barde and the PDP are seeking to nullify the election of Governor Muhammad Yahaya of the APC through their appeal.
