Judith Suminwa Tuluka has been announced as the first female Prime Minister in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Tuluka, an economist and the current planning minister of the republic, was made prime minister following the re-election of President Felix Tshisekedi’s after the December 20, 2023 election.
She takes over as prime minister from Jean-Michel Sama Lukonde.
Reacting to her new portfolio, Tuluka who appeared on national television said she now has a great responsibility adding that she wants to work “for peace and development” so that the “Congolese people can benefit from the resources” of the country.
