A 200 level student of the Ajayi Crowther University in Oyo State, identified as Alex Timileyin, has been be-aten to de-ath for allegedly stealing an iPhone 12 pro max.
According to sources, the deceased had his hair forcefully shaved by his assailants and was beaten inside a hostel known as Shepherd inn on the school premises on Friday from 6pm to 10am on Saturday when he reportedly died.
In a video shared online, the deceased was seen rolling on the ground while he was been be-aten with sticks.
Reacting to the incident, the varsity management through it’s spokesperson, Femi Atoyebi, said the suspected assailants have all been expelled from the institution and handed over to the police for investigation and prosecution.
Atoyebi said, “Contrary to what is trending, the university affirms that there is no cultism in the institution, just as the university has zero tolerance for any sort of anti-societal vices and misconduct.
“It is important to stress that the expelled students do not belong to any cult group.
What actually happened is that the deceased was alleged to have st%len a mobile telephone, but instead of reporting the issue to the University management, the expelled students could not control their emotions.
The University has taken swift action by handing over all the students involved to the Nigeria Police Force for investigation, with the assurance that justice will be served.”
