As  the opposition parties cries out on the APC led Government of President Tinibu’s new appointments of 10 new RECs for INEC .

Civil Society Organisations and some other Nigerians raised alarm about  the biased REC’s appointments, who were alleged to be members of political parties.

As the Nigeria Senate confirmed all 10 nominated REC without considering the opinions of Nigerian masses.

More Particularly, the appointment of Mr Etekamba Umoren, who was said to be a former Chief of Staff to the Senate President, as the REC of Akwa ibom State. Reliable sources informed trustbase News that the PDP in Akwa Ibom State has Challenged the appointment in Court.

However,  a non Partisan, Legal and advocacy Organisation, Social Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) has taken a legal action against  President Tinibu and Nigeria’s Senate over the appointments and Confirmation of card carrying members of political Party.

“We’re suing the Tinubu administration and Nigeria’s Senate over the appointment and confirmation of at least three card-carrying members and loyalists of the ruling APC as Resident Electoral Commissioners for the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC)”. SERAP stated.
