OIU Abuja President.
The Ohafia Improvement Union (OIU) Abuja Branch has a new Executives to pilot the affairs of the apex development Organisation on Sunday 1st September 2024.
The newly elected President of the Union, Chief Kalu Idika has promised to change the narratives that will propel a new development in the affairs of the Union.
The new President stated this in a chart with the Trustbase News correspondence in Abuja immediately after he took the oath of office as the current President of Ohafia apex development union.
He said, ” As it is culturally known, our people, the Ohafia people are business minded people, and as the name implied ‘Ohafia Improvement Union’. We are going to ensure that the business lives of our people are heavily encouraged and also make the Union a business minded Union.
” Secondly, if you know Ohafia very well, our native language is gradually going into extinction, therefore I have the desire to establish an initiative that will be teaching our children. A Cultural centre where Ohafia Children could be taught Ohafia Culture and as well interactions with our Ohafia language, thereby solidifying Ohafia dialects”.
Chief Idika has promised to also make Ohafia Prominent Sons and Daughters resident in Abuja becomes visible as he will intermittently bring them for interaction so that our people will notice and know them.
The new President urges OIU members to make themselves available and relevant in the activities of the Union so as to completely eradicate the Marginalisation mentality as may be presumed by some communities. He applauded the use of delegates in the OIU meetings in maintaining equality and balanced deliberations, as he assured of carrying every community along.
He reemphasized his determination for the union to having a place of meetings of their own, just as he stated in his remarks that the current place which is not befitting, is temporary and cannot be, beyond 2 meetings as he assured that the new executive will surprise Nde Ohafia with a new befitting place of meetings.
The incumbent President also eulogised the past administration for their responsiveness which has encouraged large numbers of meeting turnout as exemplified in the context of the recently held election, where 3 Chartered Accountants, Captains of Industries and other professionals contested for various positions to contribute to the development of OIU Abuja Branch.
Chief Kalu Idika who was the former 1st vice president in the last adminstration and currently the President vows to surpass the performance of the past administration as his experience is a significant factor.
The Newly elected executives have, Chief Kalu Idika as the President, Prince Ikechukwu Kalu Imaga 1st Vice, Chief Felix Umeh 2nd Vice, Engr Ogbugo Uchendu as the Gen Secretary, others include Chief Frank Kalu Emea as the Financial Secretary, Mr Uche Nwaoriaku as the Treasurer, Mr Kalu Kalu Mba the PRO and Mr Afam Obasi as provost.
