
The Abia State Police Command has launched an investigation of invasion into De Latinos restaurant by men suspected to officers of the Police in Umuahia, the state capital on Sunday night.
The incident, which attracted condensation by the state government and the state commissioner of police occurred at about 9:00 pm, resulted in multiple injuries and property damages to the entertainment and hospitality business.
An eyewitnesses, said the invasion was due to a disagreement between police officers and staff over a customer bringing in outside food.
The Police Commissioner, CP Danladi Isa, who condemned the incident has ordered the arrest of those involved. An investigation is currently underway, with some staff members of De Latinos being questioned.
The CEO of De Latinos, Emmanuel Okenini, has denounced the invasion as “an unprovoked and unjustified assault” on his business and customers. The Abia State government has also intervened, directing the Police Commissioner to ensure that those responsible are held accountable.
