Court judgment won’t stop national convention – PDP
The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has said that the judgment of the Federal High Court will not halt its preparations for the forthcoming national convention scheduled to hold in November.
The party’s National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, made this known in a statement on Thursday following the court’s ruling.
Ologunagba described the judgment as an assault on Nigeria’s democratic process.
According to him, despite the judgment, PDP remains fully empowered to continue with the processes leading to the convention.
“We will go on with the convention of our party, where new national officers would be elected to steer the party’s affairs for the next four years,” he said.
DAILY POST reports that a Federal High Court in Abuja stopped the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, from recognising the outcome of the forthcoming 2025 national convention of the party.
Justice James Omotosho issued the order on Friday while delivering judgment in a suit challenging the legality of the convention.
