A chief magistrates’ court in Kaduna has remanded Jonah Luka, a 45-year-old man, in a correctional facility for allegedly defiling a seven-year-old girl in Kafanchan, Kaduna state.
The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) brought the charges against Luka for rape.
Samson Kwasu, the judge, did not take the plea of the accused for a lack of jurisdiction.
Kwasu directed the prosecutor to forward duplicate copies of the case file to the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) for legal advice.
He adjourned the matter to February 29 for further mention.
The NSCDC prosecutor Marcus Audu, informed the court that the case was reported to the corps by Nazareth Dauda, the girl’s father, in Kafanchan on January 30.
The Prosecutor Audu stated that Luka lured the complainant’s daughter into his room at Unguwar Rimi Bajju and defiled her.
He also said that the minor was taken to the Salama Sexual Referral Centre, Kafanchan, and the matter was referred to the corps for investigation.
The offence is contrary to section 258 of the Kaduna penal code.
