American footballer, Marshawn Kneeland dies from ‘self-inflicted gunshot wound’
Marshawn Kneeland, an American football team defensive end, has died at 24.
The Dallas Cowboys star reportedly died by apparent suicide late Wednesday night.
He was discovered dead from self inflicted gunshot wound after fleeing Texas State troopers at about 10:30pm local time on Wednesday.
Texas Department of Public Safety, DPS, in a statement on Thursday disclosed that its men attempted to stop the football star for traffic violation on Dallas North Tollway, but refused to pull over, resulting in a subsequent car chase which resulted in the authorities losing sight of Kneeland’s car.
The DPS noted that his vehicle was later found abandoned after it had crashed on Dallas Parkway.
“The DPS searched the immediate area, alongside the Frisco Police Department and he was found dead,” it said.
A police dispatch audio connected to the football player’s death, revealed that he told his family goodbye in an apparent mental health episode late Wednesday.
