A former Councillor in Ohafia and a community leader, Hon Arunsi Uduma Uguru a.k.a Makiba who was physically tortured, assaulted and incarcerated, in a viral video by some assailants who were identified as youths from Amaekpu Ohafia for allegedly insulting the councillor of Isiama ward, Hon Eke Daniel Urum has dragged the Deputy Governor Of Abia State, Engr. Ikechukwu Emetu and the youths involved to Court in pursuant for his fundamental human rights.

In a motion on notice seen by Trustbase news, with suit no: HUZ1 4M/2026, filled by Hon Uduma as applicant with the following  listed as respondents, The Deputy Governor of Abia State, Chidi Igu Uduma, Eke Daniel Urum, Ulu Nkata, Okorie Olugu, Ochu Kalu Agwu and Okpo Leonard at the High Court Uzuakoli Abia State. Dated 04-06-2026.

The suit has the following prayers:

1.A declaration of this Honourable Court that the forceful arrest of the applicant by the 2nd to 7th respondents acting for themselves and at the behest of the 1st responder along Amaekpu to Okagwe Road and his subsequent detention and torture by the respondents on the 6th day of November 2025 is illegal, unconstitutional and in breach of the rights of the applicant to personal liberty.

2.A declaration of the Honourable Court that the threats by the respondents to further arrest/ abduct and detain the applicant without any reasonable cause is unlawful and in breach of the applicant’s right to personal liberty and freedom of movement.

3.That the same of one Billion Naira being general damages caused the applicant for his unlawful arrest, humiliation, detention and physical torture by the respondents for committing no offence.

4. An injunction permanently restraining the respondents either by themselves, their agents or any person or persons acting at their behest from further arresting, detaining, torturing or in any manner interfering with the applicant’s right to personal liberty, freedom of movement and right to human dignity. The matter is slatted for hearing on Friday the 17th day of July 2026.

Recall that Hon Uguru while in captivity allegedly paid the sum of N100,000.00 only ( One hundred thousand naira only) for his release while the youths claimed according to Hon Uguru , that they acted on the instruction of the Deputy Governor.

Uguru who confessed that he has petition the Police through his legal counsel, Anaga Kalu Anaga & Associate of his adoption and torture by group of boys from Amaekpu Ohafia through a letter dated 14th day of November 2025, in which they allegedly collected a ransom of N100,000 .00 only, for his release.

It is also on notice that the petitioner on February 24th 2026 made a formal letter to the Governor of Abia State, Dr Alex Otti where he gave a detailed accounts of the incident where was  humiliated and assaulted, by Councillor Eke Daniel Urum and a group of Amaekpu Ohafia youths, with the backing of the State Deputy Governor Engr, Ikechukwu Emetu, where he was kidnapped and tortured, thereafter paid the sum of N100,000.00 ( One hundred thousand naira only) for his release.

The embattled Uduma who queried that despite all his evidences and efforts seeking for justice, yet the DSS or the Nigerian police has taken no steps in prosecuting any of the suspects or addressing his concerns. “This is the reason I have taken a legal action against the identified suspects” Hon Arunsi Uduma Uguru maintained.
