The Super Eagles of Nigeria defeated the Black Stars of Ghana 2-1 on Wednesday night to advance to the final of the Unity Cup in London.
Goals from Cyriel Dessers and an own goal from a Ghanaian defender was enough to do the job as Nigeria won the bragging rights in the entertaining ‘Jollof’ derby.
Dessers opened the scoring for the Eagles in the 14th minute with a clinical finish, assisted by Sodiq Ismail.
Nigeria’s advantage was extended just five minutes later when Ghana’s Razak Simpson accidentally turned the ball into his net, giving the Super Eagles an important second goal.
The first half ended with Ghana struggling without recording a single shot on target.
However, Ghanaian substitute, Brandon Asante-Thomas, pulled one back for the Black Stars in the 70th minute.
Following the win against Ghana, Nigeria will face Jamaica in the Unity Cup final on Saturday.
