Europa League: Iheanacho’s goal controversially ruled out as Celtic lose to Braga
Celtic forward Kelechi Iheanacho saw his goal controversially chalked off for handball as they lost 2-0 at home to Sporting Braga in the Europa League on Thursday.
The Scottish Champions were already a goal down when Iheanacho scored.
But following a lengthy VAR review, the goal was ruled out without the referee being called to the pitchside monitor.
“There’s absolutely no way from every angle you look at that he’s touched it,” Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers said after the game.
“So it’s hit his face, he’s gone away and finished it really well. That’s a big moment in the game for us.”
Braga took the lead thanks to Ricardo Horta’s long-range effort and sealed the win in the second half through Gabri Martinez, 10 minutes from full-time.
