Ex-Real Madrid winger Drenthe suffers stroke
Former Real Madrid winger, Royston Drenthe, has suffered a stroke.
The 38-year-old is currently undergoing treatment in hospital after being admitted on Friday.
This was revealed by FC de Rebellen, a business entity which represents several former footballers,
The statement read: “Last Friday, Royston Drenthe suffered a stroke.
“Drenthe is currently receiving good care and is in good hands.
“The team and those involved hope for a speedy recovery.”
Drenthe came into prominence while playing for Feyenoord in the Netherlands, before signing for Real Madrid, where he won LaLiga in 2007.
The Dutchman played in the Premier League, when he had a loan spell with Everton.
He also turned out for Reading and Sheffield Wednesday.
