Ghana Footballer Dominic Frimpong Killed In Armed Attack On Berekum Chelsea Team Bus After League Match – Arise News
Ghanaian footballer Dominic Frimpong has been killed after armed men attacked the team bus of Berekum Chelsea following a Ghana Premier League fixture.
According to the Ghana Football Association, the incident occurred on Sunday as the team returned from an away match against FC Samartex 1996 in Samreboi, when masked attackers blocked the road and opened fire on the bus.
Players and staff were forced to abandon the vehicle and flee into nearby bushes for safety as the attack unfolded. The suspects remain at large, and investigations are ongoing.
The GFA has described the incident as a “profound shock and deep sorrow,” offering condolences to Frimpong’s family and the football community. It also said it is working with authorities and will review security measures for teams travelling to matches across the country.
Frimpong, who joined Berekum Chelsea on loan from Aduana FC in January, had made 13 appearances this season and scored two goals, and was regarded as a promising young forward.
