How detached truck tyre killed LAWMA official in Lagos | Read Details
A 61-year-old official of the Lagos State Waste Management Authority, LAWMA Olalekan Ogunmakin, has died after tyres that pulled out from a moving truck crushed him to death in the Alaka area of Lagos State.
The impact of the collision which occurred on May 27, caused Ogunmakin to sustain varying degrees of injury while the truck driver fled.
He was rushed to Randle Hospital in the Surulere area of the state by bystanders where he was declared dead by a doctor on duty.
Confirming the incident, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, said;
“The incident happened on May 27, 2024, around 10.24 pm, at Alaka, inward the National Stadium. It involved an unknown truck driven by a driver and our investigation revealed that two tyres of an unknown truck pulled out suddenly in motion and hit a 61-year-old man, Olalekan Ogunmakin, attached to the LAWMA office, Ijora.
“The man sustained serious injuries and was rushed to the Randle Hospital, Surulere, Lagos, for treatment. He died and this was confirmed by the doctors on duty. The corpse was deposited at the same hospital for preservation and an investigation is ongoing for the arrest of the truck driver.”
