Hon. Justice Kudirat Motonmori Kekere-Ekun has been recommended to President Bola Tinubu for appointment as the Chief Justice of Nigeria, CJN.
The recommendation was made by the National Judicial Council, NJC at its 106th Meeting as Justice Olukayode Ariwoola gets ready to retire as the Chief Justice of Nigeria on Thursday, August 22, 2024.
A statement by the NJC’s Director of Information, Mr Soji Oye on Thursday, said the meeting was presided over by Justice Olukayode Ariwoola.
If approved, Justice Kekere-Ekun would be the second female Chief Justice of Nigeria with Mouktar Aloma as the first female CJN.
Also, the NJC recommended 28 candidates for appointment as Judges of state courts and a candidate for appointment as Kadi of the Sharia Court of the FCT, Abuja to their various State Governors.
