NLC barricade NERC Headquarters, over electricity tariff | photos+details
The Nigerian Labour Congress, NLC led by It’s president, Joe Ajaero, on Monday stormed the headquarters of the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission, NERC, rejecting th increase in electricity tariff.
Ajero challenged to NERC to tell Nigerians which power plant it planned to construct before the end of the year, adding that the country cannot continue depending on 4000MW of electricity generation.
The Union also stated that the Mambilla plant can generate over 3,600 MW of electricity if it was functional.
They maintained that NERC cannot continue to charge tariffs whereas Nigerians do not have adequate power supply.
Across states, NLC are also protesting the electricity tariff at various DisCos.
