Nnamdi Azikiwe University loses student to Mkpurummiri
Reports from Awka, the Anambra state capital, says a student of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, has met his untimely death following his consumption of hard drugs.
Sources say the ugly incident occurred when the unnamed student jumped from a three-storey building after allegedly consuming hard drug known in the south East as mkpuru mmiri.
The tragedy which reportedly occurred around 8:00 pm on Thursday took place at a lodge near Royal Kitchen junction, close to the school gate in Awka, Anambra state.
The student was said to have been rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was confirmed dead.
Some residents, who confirmed that the student had consumed MKPURUMMIRI, narrated that victim’s body was lying in a pool of his own blood after a loud sound was heard, adding that his roommate was also discovered to be under the influence of the same substance, as he was found in an incoherent state in their room.
According to eyewitnesses, the roommate is currently in police custody and will be questioned once he stabilizes.
The University Authorities are said to be working to reach the family.
Meanwhile, neither the police nor the school authorities have officially confirmed the incident.
