PDP in Cross River not in any coalition – Party scribe, Ikem
The leading opposition party in Cross River State, the Peoples Democratic Party, has denied coalition with any other parties.
The party claimed that chieftains hobnobbing with any coalition were no longer their members.
Chairman of the party, Venatius Ikem who spoke during a stakeholders engagement in Calabar, invited those who left for the coalition to return to the party, describing them as “our children.”
Ikem expressed confidence in the party’s candidate for Cross River Northern senatorial district, stating that the zone cannot be penetrated by other parties.
He also extended an olive branch to current leaders in the state who are not currently in the PDP.
Ikem emphasized that the party’s grassroots structure is solid, assuring that the party would emerge victorious in future elections.
Other dignitaries who spoke, including former Deputy Governor, Efiok Cobham, former member of House of Representatives, Ekpo Okon, former Vice Chancellor of the University of Calabar, Prof. Zana Akpagu and Arthur Javis, all urged party members to focus on efforts at rebuilding the party to defeat the ruling APC.
Former deputy governor, Cobham emphasized that the party can achieve great things if its members are determined.
The meeting concluded with a renewed commitment to work towards rebuilding the PDP and reclaiming power in the state.
