Peter Obi sues Deji Adeyanju, demands N1bn damages
Former Labour Party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has instituted a legal action against activist lawyer, Deji Adeyanju.
Obi dragged Adeyanju before an Anambra State High Court sitting in Onitsha for allegedly making baseless and defamatory remarks against him.
He accused the lawyer of using his social media handles to make scandalous, reckless and malicious statements against him.
In the suit, the former presidential candidate is asking the court to other Adeyanju to tender an unreserved apology.
He also demanded the sum of N1 billion as general damages and N500 million as exemplary damages.
Reacting, Adeyanju noted that Obi didn’t chicken out after threatening to take legal action against him.
In a message he shared with DAILY POST, Adeyanju wrote: “Finally, Peter Obi has sued me. I am actually happy and relieved that he didn’t chicken out in the end.
“Interestingly, he dragged me all the way to Anambra State, even though he is almost always in Abuja where I reside. But no shaking, we move.”
Deji Adeyanju, Peter Obi,
