Samson Adamu Pledges Integrity, Targets Lasting Legacy At CAF – Arise News
The newly-appointed Acting General Secretary of the Confederation of African Football, Samson Adamu, has expressed his commitment to integrity, professionalism, and leaving a lasting impact on African football.
Adamu was appointed on March 29, 2026, during a CAF Executive Committee meeting in Cairo, following his nomination by CAF President Patrice Motsepe and subsequent ratification by the committee.
Speaking after his appointment, Adamu said he is determined to serve the continent’s football governing body with humility and dedication.
“I am elated by this appointment. I am determined to serve African football with humility, integrity, and professionalism,” he stated.
Adamu becomes the first Nigerian and West African to occupy the position in CAF’s 69-year history.
His career in football administration spans several roles within CAF, including Director of Competitions and later Director of Tournaments and Events.
Before joining CAF, he founded COPA Lagos, an international beach soccer tournament that gained global recognition and contributed to Nigeria hosting the 2016 CAF Beach Soccer Cup of Nations.
He is the son of Amos Adamu, a prominent figure in African and global football administration.
