Samuel Eto’o Wins Second Term As Cameroon Football Chief Despite Opposition – Arise News
Samuel Eto’o has secured a second term as president of the Cameroonian Football Federation, Fecafoot, after being re-elected unopposed on Saturday.
His renewed mandate was confirmed during a General Assembly held in the central region, where he received 85 out of 85 votes.
The country’s education ministry, which oversees the Sports portfolio, had opposed the exercise and called for the cancellation of the Assembly.
There were also demonstrations outside the venue, with opponents accusing Eto’o of misconduct.
The former Barcelona forward has faced claims from some critics that he has mismanaged Cameroonian football and contributed to the decline in performance of the national team. Discontent intensified after the Indomitable Lions failed to qualify for the 2026 World Cup.
Despite the protests and institutional pushback, Eto’o retains full control of Fecafoot as he enters his second term.
