Sunshine Queens secure promotion to NWFL
Sunshine Queens have secured promotion to the Nigeria Women’s Football League, NWFL, DAILY POST reports.
The Owena Whales defeated Kwara Ladies 1-0 in their final group match at the 2025 Championship.
Sunshine Queens amassed nine points from three matches in the group stage.
Captain Lolade Akintunde attributed the team’s success to hard work.
“The NWFL qualification is a reward for hard work,” Akintunde told the club’s media.
The Akure-based club were relegated to the second-tier league in the 2023/24 NWFL season.
