There’s only one party in Nigeria — Mahdi Shehu slams political class
Renowned public affairs commentator Mahdi Shehu has expressed deep concern over the direction of Nigerian politics.
He stated that there is no real hope in the current political structure due to how politicians have turned politics into a business venture.
He revealed this on Tuesday in a press interview.
Shehu argued that there is essentially no difference between political parties in Nigeria, stating that only the names differ.
“There is only one party in Nigeria. And its always the ruling party. Once Elections are over, politicians simply defect to the ruling party. We saw this when the PDP lost and many of its members moved to the APC,” he said.
He warned Nigerians not to deceive themselves into thinking political parties represent different ideologies.
“These politicians are the same, same background, same mindset. The ordinary citizens are just pawns. Go out and vote, do your part and leave the rest to God. But if you refuse to vote and later start blaming the leaders, it will only come back to haunt you.”
party, politicians,
