Tinubu right to reshuffle service chiefs if coup rumour was true – Olisa Agbakoba
A Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Olisa Agbakoba, has justified President Bola Tinubu’s decision to reshuffle the service chiefs.
Speaking in an interview on Politics Today, a programme on Channels Television monitored by DAILY POST on Friday, Agbakoba said Tinubu acted rightly if there was indeed a rumoured coup.
He was reacting to the reshuffle of the service chiefs announced by President Tinubu on Friday.
The President made changes to the hierarchy of the service chiefs as part of the Federal Government’s efforts to strengthen the national security architecture.
Reacting, the senior lawyer said: “You have a president who is prepared to take top decisions and we know that he likes to take top decisions.
“I think he has taken top decisions because his predecessor, late former president Muhammadu Buhari, did not like to take top decisions and he allowed his military team to stay far longer than they should have.
“So if it is indeed true that there was a rumoured coup, I think he (President Tinubu) will be sensible to do exactly what he has done. What we want to see is the impact of the decision.”
