Transfer: Man Utd secures deal for Delap amidst Chelsea competition for Ipswich striker
Manchester United have reached an agreement to sign Ipswich Town striker Liam Delap amid competition from Premier League rivals Chelsea.
According to ESPN, Man United have told Ipswich Town that they will activate Delap’s release clause if the 22-year-old attacker informs them that he wants to join Ruben Amorim’s side this summer.
Delap has impressed in his first season in the Premier League at Ipswich Town.
He netted 12 goals for Ipswich Town, who were relegated from the Premier League this season.
Delap made his professional debut with Manchester City in 2020.
He has a £30 million relegation release clause in his deal with Ipswich Town.
Meanwhile, former Aston Villa captain, Gabby Agbonlahor had urged Delap not to join Man United this summer transfer window.
Delap had attracted interest from Man United, Chelsea, West Ham, Aston Villa, Everton and Arsenal this summer.
