WCQ Playoffs: Strongest team always wins doesn’t exist – Gabon coach warns Nigeria
Gabon head coach, Thierry Mouyouma has warned Nigeria ahead of both sides’ 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying playoff next week.
Mouyouma warned the Super Eagles that ‘the strongest team always win’ doesn’t exist in modern football anymore.
Gabon will face Nigeria in a 2026 World Cup playoff, and the winner will face the winner between Cameroon and DR Congo.
“The Nigeria we are facing was a top team in the group, and in the end, they did not qualify because they were not first in the group,” Mouyouma said at his press conference on Thursday.
“So what used to be said that the strongest always win doesn’t exist today.
“When you look at it—Nigeria, Cameroon, Democratic Republic of Congo and Gabon—the top would be Gabon.”
