Why Labour Party wants to set up training Institute for Politicians | READ DETAILS
The Labour Party has revealed plans to establish a democratic institute in Abuja, which will provide structured political training for politicians – political members, party agents, and aspiring politicians.
Addressing a delegation from the International Republican Institute (IRI), led by its Resident Programme Director, Sentell Barnes, at the Labour Party National Headquarters on Monday, the party chairman, Barrister Julius Abure said that the proposed Labour Party Democratic Institute will provide training on inclusive policies in politics, social equity, among other necessary factors for a healthy democracy in Nigeria.
“The Labour Party is committed to dismantling barriers to political participation and promoting social equity”.
“This Democratic Institute will institutionalise that commitment through structured training and mentorship.”
Speaking, Sentell Barnes praised the Labour Party’s efforts towards inclusivity. He added that IRI would continue supporting Nigerian parties with policy development workshops and advocacy for gender balance in leadership.
