Why we banned commercial motorists from using tinted glasses in Imo — Gov. Hope Uzodinma | READ DETAILS
Governor Hope Uzodimma, has issued a 72-hour ultimatum for commercial vehicle owners using tinted glasses in Imo State to remove them.
The governor in a statement issued on Thursday by his Chief Press Secretary, Oguwuike Nwachukwu gave security operatives directive to arrest anyone who refuses to comply with the order after the ultimatum elapses.
The statement explained that the order for clampdown on commercial vehicles was prompted by their reported use in criminal activities such as kidnapping, armed robbery and hit-and-run incidents in the state.
The statement read,
“Governor Hope Uzodimma has approved the clampdown on all tinted vehicles used for commercial activities in the state, following reports of their involvement in criminal acts. Most notably, commercial buses with tinted glasses have been linked to crimes such as kidnapping, armed robbery, and hit-and-run incidents.”
To curb the rising crime, Uzodimma has directed security agencies to work with designated government officials to enforce the directive. Defaulters will be prosecuted if they fail to comply within the three-day grace period.
