‘You can flirt with opposition by day, romance Tinubu at night’ – Atiku’s aide to Kwankwaso
Demola Olarenwaju, Senior Political Assistant to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, on Saturday said that former New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) presidential candidate, Rabiu Kwankwaso, cannot be “flirting with the opposition by day” and “romancing President Bola Tinubu by night.”
Olarenwaju said Kwankwaso and others like him should toe the path of Atiku; former Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai; former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi; and former Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola, who formed the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
Posting on X, Olarenwaju said Kwankwaso should have nurtured the NNPP the way Aminu Kano did with the PRP.
He wrote: “The likes of Kwankwaso and other tiptoeing ‘opposition’ leaders must show courage and make up their minds like Atiku, El-Rufai, Amaechi, Aregbesola, Obi, etc., did to form the ADC coalition.
“Flirting with the opposition by day and seducing Tinubu at night na why Fayose dey write exposé.
“Kwankwaso could have nurtured NNPP from Kano State as his Second Republic mentor, Aminu Kano, did with PRP, even after Balarabe Musa was impeached and Abubakar Rimi resigned and defected to NPP.”
Olarenwaju also noted that Kwankwaso opened the door for Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, to defect from the NNPP to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
“By negotiating with the APC at all, RMK opened the door for Abba Yusuf to join the APC.
“Anybody still going to Aso Rock to hold discussions with Tinubu at this point is only looking out for themselves and not the Nigerian people,” he added.
Atiku, Kwankwaso, Tinubu,
